Christmastime With The Babies

Tony, Susan and the babies arrived in Alabama Monday night. They spent Tuesday with us. Here are a few pics from that day. (They will be back at our house Christmas day around 3:00. We will open presents and have Christmas dinner together.)

Thanksgiving Day

We spent part of Thanksgiving Day in Andulusia with Susan's family. This is Achin' Acres--the place where the family used to have their Thanksgiving dinner. It recently burned, but we went there to look around.

We took the babies out into the cotton field across the street from the old house. Jonah was more interested in the sticks than the cotton!

But Claire was into picking the cotton!
When Jonah first saw Matt, he would just scream! But he finally warmed up to his Uncle Matt and fell asleep in his arms.

For some reason, I did not get many pics after we got back home Thanksgiving night. But here is one that I got of Jonah, Katie, Claire and Allen.

Last year I was with the babies on Halloween. Since we were not going to be with them on Halloween this year, we got to dress them up in their costumes a few weeks early so that I could take some pics of them. Are they adorable or what?!

Claire and Jonah had TWO birthday parties! The first one was on Wednesday night after church. (This was their actual birthday.)

We got to go to Lakeland to help celebrate the babies' birthday. We were there for 9 very fun days. It went by in a flash--as I knew it would. This is the first installment of the many pics (about 800--but don't worry, I will not post them all!) that I took while there.

Fireworks on the Fourth of July

We were at Lake Junaluska for the Fourth of July fireworks. We got there early and settled on a spot near the water. The fireworks are so pretty mirrored in the lake. We were not sure how the babies would react to the fireworks, but they were not frightened by them at all.

Babes at the Biltmore

Allen and I went to Biltmore last year. Tony and Susan had not been there since their honeymoon almost nine years ago. Matt and Katie were there a little over two years ago on their honeymoon. But this year, we were ALL there, including Claire and Jonah! And what fun it was!!

The Aquarium in Gatlinburg

We went to the aquarium in Gatlinburg and had such a good time. The babies were just all eyes--especially Jonah. Claire was at first, but she starting running a temperature and was not feeling very good part of the time that we were there. That is why you will see more pics of Jonah than of her.

Would you believe that this is one of ONLY TWO pics that we have EVER had taken together?!!!! I don't know why none of us ever think about taking more of the entire group! But at least we have this one--courtesy of a kind man at the restaurant.

On our family vacation, we ate out a LOT! The Apple Barn in Pigeon Forge was one of the places we went to eat. The food is okay, but it is so pretty around the outside of the restaurant for taking pics.

Katie almost got in trouble by opening the glass enclosure where this porcupine was living. In fact, a little boy told her that she was a "bad girl".

It was so much fun to be able to watch Claire and Jonah take their first bites of solid food. They were like little birds with their mouths open just waiting for more! Sooooooo cute!

Their ornaments

I started an ornament tradition last Christmas for the babies. Each year we will have them put a personalized ornament on our tree. Then one day they will be able to have all the ornaments they have put on the tree. We did this for Tony and Matt and now they have all their ornaments from their first Christmas until they left home and got married.

This is blurry, but at least you can kinda see what they looked like.

Nancy & I go to Lakeland

It was so hard having to go home two days after the babies were born. But within a couple of weeks, I was heading back down there with my wonderful friend Nancy. It was a fun trip, with lots of talking and giggling. But there was one glitch in the trip--we missed our turn and ended up in Panama City Beach which was quite a bit out of the way! But we giggled some more and then headed on to Lakeland. Nancy stayed for several days and we had so much fun helping with the babies.
